Why price history matters on Amazon Canada
A crossed-out list price does not tell you how much a product usually costs. Amazon.ca offers can change quickly, and a large advertised discount can still leave an item above a price seen before. A recorded history gives you a separate reference: what Dipp actually observed during its checks.
On each product page, “lowest recorded” means the lowest price Dipp has observed since it began tracking that product. It is not a claim about every price Amazon has ever offered. The page also shows when the current price was checked, so you can judge the freshness of the comparison before visiting Amazon.ca.
Canadian prices and price-drop alerts
Dipp is designed for Amazon Canada: product prices, recorded lows and alert thresholds are presented in CAD. You can look up a product without an account, and you can create a price alert without one either. On the product page, enter an email address and choose what to watch for; Dipp confirms by email, then sends one message when a recorded check meets that condition.

- Dipp is built for Amazon.ca. The products it tracks, the links it accepts and the offers it displays are from Amazon's Canadian store.
- Are prices displayed in Canadian dollars?
- Yes. Prices and alert targets on Dipp are displayed in Canadian dollars.
- How do I track an Amazon.ca product?
- Paste an Amazon.ca product link or ASIN into the tracker. Dipp will open the product's page and begin building price context from its periodic checks.
- Can I receive an alert when the price drops?
- Yes, and no account is needed. On any tracked product page, enter an email address and pick what to watch for: any drop of 5% or more, a price 10% below what Dipp usually records, the lowest price on record, or a target you choose yourself. Each option shows the price in Canadian dollars it is waiting for before you create the alert.
- What happens after I create a price alert?
- Dipp emails you straight away to confirm what it is watching, with a one-click link to cancel. Nothing else is sent until the price reaches your condition. When it does, you get one email and the alert ends — it does not keep running. Create another any time, and sign in if you would rather manage several in one place.
- Does Dipp sell the products?
- No. Dipp is an independent tracking service. Amazon.ca and its sellers handle the sale, payment, delivery, returns and product availability.
- Will the price on Dipp always match Amazon.ca at checkout?
- Not necessarily. Dipp checks prices periodically, while Amazon.ca prices and availability can change at any time. The price and availability shown on Amazon.ca when you purchase are the ones that apply.
- Do the prices include tax, shipping or coupons?
- No. Every price Dipp shows is Amazon.ca's listed item price at the moment it was checked — before tax, before shipping, and before any coupon or promo code applied at checkout. Amazon calculates tax and shipping when you reach checkout, and a coupon shown there is Amazon's offer, not one Dipp has verified or recorded. A price drop on Dipp describes the listed price; it is not a promise about what you will pay.
- What does "typical price" mean?
- Dipp's typical price is the median of the prices it has actually observed for that product — not a manufacturer's suggested price, and not an average, which one unusually high or low check could distort. A product needs at least three recorded checks before Dipp will call anything typical; below that, product pages say the history is still building rather than naming a typical price they cannot yet support.
- The price history looks short. Why?
- Dipp only shows history for the days it has actually checked a product, starting from when someone first asked it to be tracked — it does not back-fill history from before that date, because it has no way to verify a price it did not itself observe. A newly tracked product will have a short history for its first few weeks; the observations shown are real, just recent.
- What if the seller or listing changes after I start tracking a product?
- Dipp tracks a specific Amazon.ca listing (its ASIN), not a specific seller. If Amazon.ca shows the same listing fulfilled by a different seller, or a listing with no current offer at all, Dipp records that: a product page states plainly when Amazon.ca is not currently showing an offer, and who ships it when that changes. It does not silently substitute a different product's price history for the one you are tracking.
