Method

Before the event, the price-watch snapshot compares a product's current price with the median of its valid price observations from the rolling 30-day window that ends 24 hours before the snapshot. A product needs at least five observations and a fresh product check to be comparable.

The event comparison uses the frozen pre-event window configured for Black Friday (expected November 1–20, 2026; dates remain unconfirmed unless Amazon announces them). Typical price is the median of observations in that window. Comparisons outside 40%–160% of typical are excluded as implausible. A price counts as genuinely lower only when it is at least 10% below typical and at or below the frozen recorded low. Percent discounts are rounded down.

Each number carries the timestamp of its source snapshot. Counts update only when the scheduled snapshot job writes a new row.

What this does not show

These totals do not prove Amazon-wide market prices, represent every Amazon.ca listing, explain why an individual price changed, or predict future prices. Product availability, seller, and listing variants can change. Missing or stale snapshots are shown as unavailable, not as zero.
